“The minister and Remans~ Members of Session finding yt yr is severall years of the Records both of Marriages and Baptisms set down in broken peices of paper soe that these years are in hazard to be lost.

Therefor to prevent their being lost the Session thought fitt to be at the expence of buying this book for recording all Marriages and Baptisms since the year of God 1691 with respect to the Baptisms.

As also with respect to Marriages since the year 1692.

And accordingly has ordered their Clerk to record them as he find them notified in these papers beginning with the Marriages on the following page.”
